To earn his teenage son’s respect, a single dad and Veteran joins a Good Deed Competition, but his high school rival stands in the way.
As a divorced dad and Veteran, Norm holds on too tightly to his teenage son, Gary. When Norm receives an invitation to a high school class reunion, his predictable answer is “I’m too busy.” While not completely true, he is busy ignoring his past. When roped into joining the reunion, he is intrigued by former valedictorian and millionaire Eli’s pitch for a contest promising the winner a dream prize: a job for life. Personalities clash and schemes develop as William, Steve, Norm, and Olivia compete for the grand prize. For Norm’s good deeds, he finally helps his Veteran friend Sam with rides. The contest brings some characters closer while driving others farther apart. Steve and Norm add their own competition to win Olivia’s affections. When Steve manages to turn Norm’s good deeds and relationships upside down, Norm searches for answers that will lead him to the New Norm.
